You Don't Need a New CRM to Fix Donor Retention
Switching donor CRMs is expensive and political — and it won't fix retention by itself. Here's how to add the missing layer without ripping anything out.
When retention slips, the instinct is to blame the CRM and shop for a new one. Resist it. A CRM migration is a months-long, political, expensive project — and a new database won't write a single donor email for you.
Retention isn't a data problem; it's a follow-up problem. Your CRM already knows who lapsed. What's missing is the layer that acts on it — the personalized outreach that actually re-engages people.
So add that layer instead of replacing the foundation. The fastest, lowest-risk path: export a CSV from whatever you use — Salesforce, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, a spreadsheet — and run reactivation and stewarding on top of it. No migration, no retraining, no risk to your records.
This also sidesteps the real reason most orgs never switch: nobody wants to move years of donor history and rebuild reports. You shouldn't have to.
Tongba is CRM-agnostic by design. It works alongside your existing CRM (or as a light one if you don't have one), turning the data you already have into approved, personalized outreach.
