Your Messy Donor CSV Is Fine. Start Reactivating Today.
Waiting until your data is 'clean' is why reactivation never happens. You can start from the export you already have — duplicates and all.
Every fundraiser apologizes for their data. 'It's a mess.' 'We have four lists.' 'There's a folder called donors_final_v3.' Here's permission to stop waiting: your messy CSV is good enough to start.
Perfect data is a procrastination trap. While you wait for a clean database, real lapsed donors stay un-contacted and real dollars stay on the table. Done beats perfect, and reactivation is done in minutes.
You need surprisingly little: email, name, last gift amount, last gift date. From that, you can identify who's lapsed and write a specific, personal note. Deduplication and tidy fields are nice — but they're a tomorrow problem, not a blocker.
